Does one not lead to another? Clearly it depends on the perspective taken I guess. You would only need to protect yourself (using a gun) due to a violent situation. Do guns breed violence, yeah I think they do. They can help people to feel safer, more invincible - therefore more likely to put themselves in a situation where they may need protection. Guns do not empower themselves however and people need to take responsibility for their actions. If you don't have a gun you are not going to use it. I can't imagine myself in a situation were I could willingly shoot someone - even if that person was threatening me. I would not advocate for gun laws here in Australia like those in America. You only have to look at the amount of gun related incidents in America (& other parts of the world) where the right to bear arms is fiercely protected. The change to our gun laws following the Port Arthur Massacre was definitely for the better of us here is the land of Aus.

Yep, so me. I have this loose definition of normal in my head in regards to what a mother/teacher/grown up should be and so often I fall short. I have tried to be that definition but seriously . . . . WORST ever! So serious and proper and I certainly didn't laugh as much as usual.
I find it all pretty amusing given that in reality I know that there is no such thing as normal but when it comes to me and my perceptions of my normality I am all off centre. It is like when I get my hair straightened and I feel like a proper grown up, or a news reader (hehe, so serious and all!). I like it better when I can just be me - a little unkempt, disorganised, loud and full of laughs. That is my normal and thats ok with me! |
