Heroes of Olympus: The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan Reviewed by Haley Sechtig Yr 11
The Son of Neptune was a really interesting book to read. Heroes of Olympus is the spinoff book series of the Percy Jackson series. This book is the second in the series. It is set at a Roman demigod camp, and features an amnesic Percy, who is quite obviously the main character of the previous main book series. It was wonderful to see how different the Roman camp was in comparison to the Greek demigod camp, and it was great to witness how a greek demigod felt there. I am really liking where this series is going. This is a brilliant series featuring plenty of Greek and Roman mythology, I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in mythology.

He wasn’t so happy to see her as he flipped her off. Luce became close friends with Arriane and Penn. While Cam another boy enrolled at the school is trying way to hard to get Luce to like him. Cam is the nice and friendly one while Daniel is mean and rude but Luce seems drawn to Daniel. Luce makes friends with a nice Liberian Sophia Bliss. Luce runs around looking for a door when she finds Todd a boy who arrived the same day as Luce and she lead him to a door. She then finds herself running from a shadow and opens a door and falls over a ledge. She wakes up in Daniel’s arms before going unconscious. She woke up in a hospital bed being questioned on the death of Todd who died in the fire. She then goes on to fall deeper and deeper in love with Daniel. Miss Sophia killed Penn and attempted to kill Luce but Daniel came to her rescue and she finds out he is an angel sent from above....

Through my eyes 'Emilio' by Sophie Masson Reviewed by Nick Angel Yr11
Emilio is the 4th book in a 6 book series it is a fiction but like a non-fiction book as it isn’t about a specific person it is only about a made up character. This book is set in Mexico’s capital Mexico City. It is about a young boy (Emilio) who loses his mom and he has to live with relatives to stay safe. The reason this is fiction is because it gives us an honest insight on how Mexico is portrayed in with drug wars and all the violence and murders and deaths. It is non-fiction as they are made up characters.
It also highlights the way in which families think in these situations that happen in Mexico and the way in which families and the federal police go about finding the criminals and bringing them to justice this book in particular demonstrates how the communicator helps write the letters to the kidnappers and helps them out in there investigation this is all I will say because I don’t want to give away how the book is so there you go, if drug warfare interests you pick up this book and read it.
I give it a 9/10

Egghead by Bo Burnham Reviewed by Anabelle Wakeling Yr11
Egghead is the first book Burnham has written. It is a collection of humorous, slightly (very) inappropriate poems that are incredibly creative and a good read. Burnham is a American musician/comedian who gained his fame from recording himself singing in his bedroom. He has many albums and his lyrics are borderline genius. I recommend this book to people with a decent sense of humour and understands humour beyond cats playing the keyboard....also someone who isn't easily offended.

Paper Towns by John Green Reviewed by Sophia Harrison Y11
The genre of book is young adult literature, mystery and a teensy bit of romance. The protagonist Quentin Jacobsen but 'Q' to his friends, is eighteen and has always loved Margo Roth Spiegelman. When they were 10 years old they discovered a dead body in a park, but now Q is a nerd and Margo is with the popular group. One night out of nowhere Margo shows up at his window persuading Q to join her on a midnight adventure. After their fun night out, the next day she disappears without a warning, she leaves numerous clues behind, which Q and his close friends use to help find out where she ran away to. Q's friends Ben, Radar and Lacey found that Margo was going to be in a place called Agloe in New York for only the next 24 hours so they all head off and ditch high school graduation to go searching for Margo, they find her in an abandoned general store. But Quentin doesn't expect her to act the way she does…
Overall it is a great read, I recommend to maybe girls moreso than boys but it can be read by boys too if you like a soppy mystery. Its a book you can't put down, yes I know that sounds really cliche but its so true, I was caught reading it on the bus, it was written so well.
I rate the book a 9.5 out of 10 though I think John Green should have written a lot more for the ending, it was a huge build up and then nothing.

The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth Reviewed by Anonymous Yr9
I read the three novels from the Divergent Trilogy (Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant). I think that all three were extremely good books and easy to read. The plot was intriguing yet also a little dystopian. I think that as a teenager, it is quite easy to relate to the protagonist (Beatrice Prior) and the choices she makes due to the situations she finds herself in.
Never the less; I think that all three novels were real 'page turners'
I rate the series 8.5
