We are going to combine all of our poetry skills to write an imagery poem this week. There is a booklet of technique practise that you need to complete by Thursday (leave these also on a pile on my desk for me to correct over the holidays please). The Similes and Metaphors pages will help you out - wear headphones for the videos please. You need to head to the imagery page where you will find the definitions (to be written in your workbook) and further instructions. Some useful websites to help you on your way are :
Idea Engine Rhyme Zone Poetry Splatter Giggle Poetry All the best, and have a great week! :-) So, 7 Carroll today we are looking at Cinquain Poetry. The Cinquain Poetry page outlines everything that you will need to do in this session. I look forward to reading your work!
The TEEL paragraph structure can be used as a tool to help you write clear and concise paragraphs and essay responses. Over the next few lessons, we will be looking at the developing our use of this tool in order to write effective paragraphs and essays. I would like to do a practise TEEL paragraph - and what better way to do that than writing a personal paragraph about a friend of yours following the TEEL process. You can follow this link to refresh your memory of the TEEL structure.
Here is my sample TEEL paragraph: I have had my friend named Kate in my life for a long time. She is a caring and supportive friend. She always listens to my ramblings and gives me good advice. I was sick recently and she came over to my house. She looked after my kids as well as bringing us dinner. It would have been supportive just to have her visit us but her caring side was shown through her kind act towards me. I am lucky to have a friend who is so caring! Simple right?! I hope so! I want you to have a go at a TEEL paragraph in the comments below. It would be best to handwrite it first to make sure it makes sense before you post it! Hello,
Your wider reading assignment is due the end of the first week back next term (10th October). Please comment below with what task you are completing and the novel you are doing. You CANNOT do the same book OR the same task for this one. Enjoy your reading time. Today we are in the library year 7 working on your debates. A couple of things to make sure of -
1. That you use your time wisely. 2. Research your points. 3. Communicate with your group to make sure your ideas flow and make sense. 4. Keep in mind that you are talking for three minutes. 5. You will need to make cue cards BUT I would like to read your speech before you do that 6. Peer edit. I look forward to seeing your work on Monday. Have an amazing weekend! :) Hello students,
I am looking forward to reading your 'silly' apology letters. I know that they are fun (which is great) but I really want you to use proper grammar, spelling and editing. Happy writing! :-) Please write you short creative story in the comments section of this post. I am looking forward to reading some entertaining stories written from your fantastic imaginations! Enjoy the process! :)
